We have exciting news: the Broadview Danforth BIA is now offering a new free member benefit that helps make legal advice available to small businesses in our community.

Through a partnership between the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA) and the Ontario Bar Association, we now connect eligible business owners with qualified volunteer lawyers — at no cost — for help with:

• Setting up your business structure (incorporation, partnerships, sole proprietorship)
• Reviewing a commercial lease before you sign
• Documenting a business partnership or co-ownership arrangement
• Preparing employment contracts or independent contractor agreements
• Understanding what licenses and permits your business needs

The program is for small business owners who cannot reasonably afford to pay market-rate legal fees for the matter without financial hardship or risk to their business. There is no fixed income cutoff. If the cost of legal advice would strain your finances, affect your household, or put your business at risk, you are encouraged to apply.
