Celebrate soccer, music, and community on the Danforth with The World Within Our Neighbourhood — a free summer event bringing people together through the joy of the beautiful game. Join the Broadview Danforth BIA on June 12 and 13 for outdoor match-day fun, live music, family-friendly activities, local performances, and a special viewing party for Canada’s opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The celebration continues through July 2 with musicians performing in CafeTO parkettes across the neighbourhood, representing cultures and countries from around the world. Come cheer, explore, dance, eat, shop, and experience the incredible mix of global sounds, local businesses, and community spirit that make Broadview Danforth feel like the world in one neighbourhood.

2012 Danforth Toast To The Holidays event.

This is the 3rd year that we are hosting this event to promote shopping and dining in our wonderful BIA.  For those who are new members and as a reminder to the rest, we partner with Churchill Cellars Wine Agency for this event.  Churchill Cellars then provides wine to each participating member for your guests to sample during the event.  The BIA promotes the event through print advertising, social media, e-blasts, media releases etc.  Generally we host about 500 people during the event.  Consumers purchase a Toast to the Holidays passport for $10.  This passport lists all of the participating businesses and the wines at each location.  So passport holders stroll through our area and drop into the businesses, sample the wine, see what wonderful things you have for the holiday shopping season.

Special Draw Prize:  This year the BIA is offering a very special draw prize for all consumers who purchase a passport.  Their names will be entered into the draw and the prize is $1,000 worth of Danforth Dollars!  Danforth Dollars are dollars that we will print up.  The winner may use their Danforth Dollars at any of our member businesses.  We ask that you honour the Danforth Dollars as cash; if you receive Danforth Dollars you will return them to me and I will give you actual cash.  We think that this will be an amazing prize both for the winner and for our businesses.

We really hope that as many businesses as possible will register to participate in our Toast To The Holidays event.  The deadline to register with me is THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2012.  The cost to register is: $75.00.  To register simply e-mail Susan Puff at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Here are the details of the event:
Date: Friday, December 7, 2012
Time: 6pm to 9pm
What the BIA will provide to participating members:

  • marketing and promotion
  • wine, ESKA water
  • wine sampling glasses
  • wait staff to handling the sampling in your business
  • strolling carollers

We encourage our retailers, service providers and restaurants to consider registering for this event.  The BIA will make this as easy for you as possible - you just need to open your doors and welcome the consumers!  If you wish to offer specials during the event and/or nibbles that would be great.  It is up to you to make the most of the opportunity and you are the one who knows best what you would like to add to the evening in order to promote your business.
