Celebrate soccer, music, and community on the Danforth with The World Within Our Neighbourhood — a free summer event bringing people together through the joy of the beautiful game. Join the Broadview Danforth BIA on June 12 and 13 for outdoor match-day fun, live music, family-friendly activities, local performances, and a special viewing party for Canada’s opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The celebration continues through July 2 with musicians performing in CafeTO parkettes across the neighbourhood, representing cultures and countries from around the world. Come cheer, explore, dance, eat, shop, and experience the incredible mix of global sounds, local businesses, and community spirit that make Broadview Danforth feel like the world in one neighbourhood.

A Few End of Week Things...

Good Afternoon All,

I have a few things to share before we end this week and start a new one.

Anti-masker lawsuits:
In the past couple of weeks there's been an increase in people who don't believe in wearing masks launching lawsuits against businesses who won't allow them into their business without wearing a mask.  I'm pretty sure that most of you would have let me know if this has happened to you but... just in case, please let me know if you have found yourself in this situation.

Security Gates:
One of our BIA members has passed on the following information if anyone is interested in looking at installing security gates or bars:

Security Bars and Gates
416-617-6063
Bill Gates (his actual name!)

Buy Toronto Time Broadview Danforth BIA Posters:
For those of you who signed up to be part of this promotional campaign your posters have arrived and I've started to drop them off.  I did participating Broadview members last Thursday; and, started on Danforth members today.  The posters are a good quality and, as such, are a bit heavy when carrying a lot of them so if you didn't receive your poster today I will be back out on Monday delivering more.  If your business isn't open I will leave your poster in your mailbox or mail slot or with a neighbour.

Below is information that each of you who are participating would have received from the ad agency yesterday (Friday).  It provides information on what they need you to do now that you have your poster.

These posters are critical to the overall campaign (billboards, transit shelters, subway posters, digital advertising, radio and TV), as they will be a main driver for the news media to pick up this story.

What we need from you:
  1. Please tape/sticky tack your poster to your inside storefront window, facing the street (also, please keep the poster as is - no mark ups with pen or marker).
  2. Please do this as soon as possible upon receipt of the poster, but no later than June 2nd
  3. Take a picture of the poster, and try to get your store signage in the shot.
  4. Below is a questionnaire for you to answer. Try to be brief as possible, but tell your story.
  5. Please send the picture and answers to the below questions to me ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) and place the full name of your business in the subject line.
  6. We will write a few lines of copy based on your answers. Our intention is to use all of the pictures and brief 'stories' on the #buytorontotime Instagram page. The more the better. Your BIA will reshare the post, and you can do the same.

Questions:

  1. Please tell us a little bit about your story, how you came to be involved with your business, and a little bit about the business itself.

  2. Please tell how the pandemic has affected your business and you personally. What have you been doing to keep your business going?

  3. What can people do to support your business right now?

  4. What would you like to tell people who think everything will be ok once the pandemic fades away?

Thanks,
Susan
