Good Afternoon Broadview Danforth Members,
I have a few things for today's update as follows:
Weekend Subway Closure:
- April 13th & 14th: Full Subway Closure from St. George to Woodbine. There will be no subway service on Line 2 between St George and Woodbine stations this Saturday, April 13th and Sunday, April 14th for track work.
- Shuttle buses will operate.
- The City will be reconstructing the full laneway behind our businesses located on the north side of Danforth from Ellerbeck to Broadview beginning this Monday, April 15th.
- Construction is expected to take until early to mid May.
- The Green P parking lot located to the north of this laneway will remain open but a certain number of spots will be blocked off during this construction period and there will be no access from the lot onto the laneway.
- We have received a Construction Mitigation Grant from the City of Toronto which is dedicated to a May spring event that includes live outdoor music.
- Tunes 'n Blooms will take place on the following dates:
- Saturday, May 4: noon to 3pm; in front of Der Dietemann Antiques, Kitchenette/Bloor Eyewear, the Black Swan, the Carrot Common courtyard.
- Friday, May 10: noon to 3pm; in front of Der Dietemann Antiques and the Black Swan.
- Friday, May 10: 5pm to 8pm; in the Carrot Common courtyard
- Saturday, May 11: noon to 3pm; in front of Der Dietemann Antiques, Kitchenette/Bloor Eyewear, the Black Swan, iPro Realty, and the Carrot Common courtyard.
- On Saturday, May 11 we will be including enhancements: face painting, BIA gift certificate give-aways, stilt walkers.
- We've also applied for a sidewalk sale permit for our full BIA for Saturday, May 11. I'm still waiting to see if the City has approved the permit application. I will provide details once I know if it's been approved. For now, keep it in mind and perhaps formulate a few plans. Saturday, May 11 is the day before Mother's Day - so a busy shopping day!
Loblaws switch to No Frills:
- Our Broadview Loblaws will be closing on April 22.
- It will be replaced with a No Frills which is part of the Loblaws umbrella.
- The No Frills is scheduled to open on May 2.
